The Alumni Association of the School of Medicine at Loma Linda University was established in 1923 with the vision of fostering a strong network of medical professionals who would support one another and uphold the university's mission of compassionate, whole-person care. In celebration of its 100th anniversary, the organization introduced a 100 for 100 giving campaign offering 100 scholarships, each covering 50% of the tuition for third—and fourth-year medical students. Selected recipients not only received the scholarship but also were granted a unique opportunity to connect with an alumni donor.

The alumni association of the school of medicine of Loma Linda University leveraged Almabase to engage with donors digitally and simplify their giving experience. The organization set up automatic annual payments to allow recurring payments from its community to improve donor retention. To further enhance the giving experience, they automated sending immediate digital tax receipts for online donations, eliminating the need for physical copies. This shift to digital tax documentation has streamlined operations and significantly improved overall donor experience.

Designing an experience that connects donors 
to the giving cause

The alumni association, SMLLU aims to create confidence and transparency among donors by showing them the direct impact of their contributions on students’ lives. To create an emotional connection between donors and students, the organization creates custom giving pages for different campaigns by adding videos where alumni share their reasons for giving, and students express their appreciation. This helps build an emotional connection between donors and the impact of their contributions. 



Creating custom pages for the 100 for 100 campaign and other giving campaigns has also made it easy to track incoming funds and allocate them accurately. The organization’s bookkeeper primarily benefits from receiving detailed emails on donations, which further simplifies fund management and auditing processes, saves time, and improves overall efficiency.

Accurate and updated alumni data for directories and emails

Each year, the team at AASMLLU conducts a comprehensive data cleanup and extracts updated information directly from Almabase. The organization pulls the data needed to generate the physical directory by leveraging Data Studio. After making the necessary updates to the CSV file, the data is then seamlessly added to the directory. With alumni's ability to update their profiles, the directory remains consistently accurate, eliminating the need to manually update constituent information and making it an invaluable resource for alumni to stay connected.
